LeaseCalc
An utility tool to calculate paycheck with a company car
During my time at CarthagoICT, I had the luxury to lease a company car. Based on my job title, I was given a lease budget. As a spoiled child I became a bit obsessed with it, choosing the right car that fits within my budget, but at the same time was not too expensive. In the Netherlands you have to pay company car taxable benefit if you also drive the company car privately.
Because I did not want to bother the company’s CFO everytime I had my eyes on a new car, to know what my net salary would be, I decided to write my own application to do it for me.
Official calculation guidelines
It’s written in Angular and uses the actual calculation guidelines for taxes, as defined by the Dutch IRS. You can compare your current paycheck with the resulting one, based on a certain lease cost. The used formulas were publicly available, but I wrote them in JavaScript so I could calculate the correct payroll tax withholding (you can view them here.
It was a fun experiment to convert the calculation guidelines into a small utility application.
